Methodology and limits

Built for resale planning, not certified appraisal reports

Restaurant Equipment Value Checker gives owners, brokers, buyers, and liquidators a fast way to estimate fair used-equipment value before listing, negotiating, repairing, or clearing a kitchen. The tool favors transparent assumptions over hidden scores.

How the calculator builds a range

Category baseline

Each estimate starts from static replacement-cost and used-price bands for common commercial kitchen equipment types.

Depreciation math

Age curves are adjusted by condition, working status, brand tier, certification, accessories, and sale urgency.

Sale channel net

Private sale, dealer buyout, auction, consignment, and scrap ranges apply different payout discounts for speed and risk.

Confidence

Known category, brand, age, price, working proof, and certification improve confidence; missing or risky inputs lower it.

Data-source notes

  • Seed ranges are editorial planning data based on visible dealer pricing patterns, common appraisal logic, and category-specific resale behavior.
  • The site does not ingest live marketplace APIs in v1, so current listings should be checked before a final asking price or offer decision.
  • Regional freight, utility disconnects, code compliance, cleaning, and repair labor can move real proceeds outside the displayed range.

Correction and contact path
